Even though this is based on the true story of Bernie Tiede and the murder he committed in Carthage, Texas this is still a funny film. Richard Linklater who directed School of Rock made a good of effort of turning this bizarre murder case into a comedy film which most directors wouldn't do since they believe that most murder based films should be either a drama or an action film which tends to make it boring for some films.

So what I liked about Bernie is the story which it gets straight to the point, it has plenty of comedy to offer, and the cast along with Shirley MacLane, and Matthew McConaughey did a good job. So before I get to the best part there is one thing that dragged down the film which was it had too many interviews, and by doing that it almost made the film looked like a documentary film than a comedy film.

Now the best part of the film can be sum up by these two words: Jack Black. He rises to the occasion by pulling out all the stops from his hilarious comedy and his singing which sounded amazing. How he was able to pull off this perfect performance was that he actually visited the real Bernie Tiede in prison and basically learned everything about which I give Jack Black major props to.

If Black is lucky there might be a best actor nomination for him for oscar season. So if you are a big Jack Black fan or need something funny to watch then check out Bernie. SEE IT!!!
