Review of Bernie (2012) by Tim G — 18 Mar 2013
Jack Black does a wonderful turn as Bernie, portraying a sweet man that gets pushed to the edge by Shirley Mclaine's Marjorie in this pseudo-documentary. Black is at his best, using his charisma and smile to make you really believe that he is indeed the real-life Bernie.
A black comedy (no pun intended) with a cathartic feel with just enough drama in it to keep it from being screwball. The story seems too far fetched at first, but then you see just why this situation was so controversial and not as open-shut as some would think. Highly recommended.
