Review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) by Shawn M — 08 Jun 2008
Taylor, who bemoaned the destructiveness of his fellow men at the end of the first film, turns destructor himself in this sequel, pushing the button that will supposedly devastate the entire planet. Why anybody should think that a single nuclear bomb could be enough to devastate the entire planet, given that the largest nuclear weapon ever built had a yield of 100 megatons - enough to do significant damage but certainly no dinosaur-killer, I don't really know.
Maybe this one was a futuristic super-bomb. Let's go with that.
As for the telepathic bomb-worshippers with their rubber masks (where did they get the latex, one wonders?), weren't they really just escapees from a Star-Trek episode?
