Review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) by Zachary E — 24 Jun 2016
It's a amazing how some films seem to gain appreciation with age, yet others lie in the gutter still hopelessly looked at as if they are inadequate, it is in my humble opinion that this is the single greatest sequel of all time, an unpopular opinion I know, but one I'm willing to stand by, it doesn't just rehash the original or haplessly try to tell a less intriguing story, it builds carefully upon the original with a kind of grace, even though this film seemingly at face value looks as though it should be crippled it manages to run full sprint and leap into the air setting a new highpoint.
Interesting with it's central plot, surprisingly human with it's characters and all building to a proper conclusion equal to the gradeur of it's potential. If you have not seen it I would highly recommend Beneath the Planet of the Apes.
.. oh and it's ending is simply brilliant.
