Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by John D — 02 Mar 2009
Those who are to young to understand will say stupid things like this movie is gay. This is a truly moving story about a man and his fight for inner peace as well as for his family. Those who have never been to the bottom and been brought back from despair will not understand.
Charlton gave what I believe to be his greatest performance. The fact that you never see Jesus face is a style of movie making that is lost to todays directors. The movie won 11 academy awards for one reason.
It is a movie that outclasses all others. It brought out the emotions that all of us feel at some point of time in our lives and if you haven't felt the negative ones like hate, vengence, hurt and pain.
..you will. Then you will understand what this story was trying to tell. Ultimatly we are all searching and what we are looking for can only be provided by the one who made us. Peace to everyone.
