Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Matt R — 22 Mar 2009
This is a film from a bygone era, where a rare few deserve the title of epic, not just for their length but for the huge number of extras, customs, sets, lack of CGI and the list goes on. Though it is based around the Romans and the story of Jesus, it works for it's lack of trying to preach and including one of Charlton Heston's best performances.
A film that defines a generation of long stories and huge human involvement, sadly no longer wanted by modern audiances, which is a real shame.
