This is an epic. The character development is as flawless as it is inspirational. Yes, the movie is long, but I never regret watching it afterwards. Charlton Heston gives a spellbinding performance... seeing as the movie is 50 years old and I still find it inspiring, it is no overstatement to call Ben-Hur "one for the ages.
