Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Michael G — 02 Oct 2011

I give this movie the highest star rating. I just watched it on Blu-Ray for the first time. The movie has been amazingly restored. I had not seen this movie for over twelve years and I was blown away by it.

This is such a powerful story painted on such a big film canvas. With all the epic films of this era, I would suggest that this is one of the most powerful films about Christ ever made. You might be surprised I say that.

But it is how Jesus is portrayed in this movie that grabs you to the core. (you never see his face, but you see all these people impacted by his presence.) Jesus present in the Eucharist comes to mind when I think about this.

This movie was very moving and had me in tears toward the end.
