Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Vincent G — 16 Apr 2014
Magnificent, william wyler's epic Ben-hur was the most expensive film of its time, with thousands of extras, staff and cameras. the industry, critics and public were amazed when Ben-hur was finaly released for the theaters (it was kept in secret until its release), now, Ben.
- hur is the most entertaining, giant and vibrant movie ever filmed. Charlton heston delivers probably one of the most sacrificed performances in history, so compromised with his character and so sincere that you can really feel he is Ben-hur in real life, the screenplay is very religious with a very political background, its a long movie but very entertaining and moving.
Ben-hur is not only amazing because of the many prizes it won in 1959 but because of its most famous scene, 'the chariot race' is considered the most brilliant and realistic sequence ever filmed.
William wyler's vibrant masterpiece still amaze since 1959.
