Never before has Bunuel?s view of the spectacle seemed so obliquely Ophülsian in its shy gaze from behind curtains, windows and even peepholes... Buñuel was one of the few men of the left not afflicted by Puritanism and bourgeois inhibitions about the sex lives of the masses.
