Although it's a great piece of cinema, beautifully acted, and historically and culturally significant, I can't help but feel the film was dumbed down somewhat.
The overly short scenes for the first two thirds of the film cried out for more elaboration and exploration. The spectacular acting and development of the storyline do more than make up for this.
