Review of Belle (2013) by Tony P — 22 Jul 2015
Classy but overly mannered period drama made in the same style as several BBC dramas of the same kind and poorer for that. It's likeable enough but whilst dealing with slavery and racism somehow feels like it's not dealing with the issues head on.
In a movie needs more conviction and reality bite to avoid playing out like a Sunday night TV drama.
