Review of B'ella (2014) by Yebrail B — 21 Sep 2008
It's little, it's harmless, and there really isn't a whole lot to it. It was almost insultingly simplistic, and certainly wasn't challenging in the least bit. But other than that, there really wasn't anything wrong with it.
It was warm, positive, and had its heart in the right place, so it certainly has that going for it. But I couldn't help but feel as though it was too manipulative in vying for the emotional heartstrings.
For a tiny indie, the acting and directing were good enough, but just like the rest of the movie, a little too rudimentary, safe, and predictable. Good if you're in the mood for that kind of thing, but not so good if you really are in the mood for something a little more intellectually and morally challenging.
