Review of Bella (2006) by Antonio S — 21 Oct 2009
Starts off very strong but stumbles about half-way. At times it feels much too preachy and, unfortunately, the story goes nowhere. What I did like was the director's use of symbols (i.e. the butterfly in the drain), which shows that he has true potential.
I feel he did very well with what he had to work with and, hopefully, he will become much more experienced as he continues his film career. Overall, it is a good enough first film, but could be a lot better with some tweaking.
I look forward to any future films Monteverde might make and I hope he is able to make a name for himself.
