If it were a true story I could be touched. It's just not believable that a grown man would care enough about a human life not his own to raise it himself. And that the actual mother would not. I also don't think you go to prison for involuntary manslaughter.
That accident was clearly not his fault. If he was high or drunk a different story. The film was thought provoking.
