Review of Before Sunset (2004) by Mitch B — 16 Jan 2013
Even better than it's predecessor Before Sunrise. Before Sunset takes our two would-be lovers (Hawke and Delpy) and drops them in Paris to once again roam the city and talk freely about life, love, and all the angst that gets them down.
This second installment of a soon-to-be-trilogy is much more emotionally raw than the first. Delpy delivers an almost manic performance, revealing her character's years of failed relationships. The screenplay was rightfully nominated for an Academy Award, due in large-part to the two stars' contributions and ad libbing.
It's almost too bad that there is a third installment coming out in 2013 because the ending of this film is as close to perfect as one could expect from your non-traditional romantic drama.
