Review of Before Sunset (2004) by Nickthecritick — 24 Apr 2022
Nine years after their first and only meeting, Jesse and Céline find themselves in Paris. He is now a successful writer, she works for an environmental association. In the few hours before he is due to return to the US, they take a long walk during which they let their guard down in defense of their mutual feelings.
Long sequence shots with dialogues poised on nostalgia, full of stereotypes of the two cultures in comparison. Film aimed at the search for the unspoken, for the small refractions of the soul, for the everyday that escapes, for the passing of time.
