Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Faisal A — 12 Dec 2013
With this film, Linklater's "Before" trilogy is easily one of the best film trilogies of all time. I know I will never regret that statement. These characters are alive and very charismatic.
They have feelings, ideas, ideologies and are portrayed by 2 actors who have clearly put a lot of thought into fleshing these characters out over the course of about 19 years. I managed to watch "Before Sunrise" one October, and fell in love with it.
2 Months later, I watched "Before Sunset", and continued to fall in love with the characters and their sage. I couldn't help myself and watched this film a few days afterwards, and absolutely embraced their journey.
These 3 films are ambitious enough that they will be timeless and will constantly engage us, and they do so, because we believe in the characters.
