Review of Beetlejuice (1988) by Adam S — 19 Apr 2012
Despite his incredibly impressive filmography, I still see this as the greatest movie Tim Burton has ever done - indeed, many of his later films seem to try, but fail, to capture the dark quirkiness of this film.
Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis are serviceable in their roles, but they are roles that don't leave a great deal of room for movement, Catherine O'Hara and, particularly, Winona Ryder, are fantastic in their roles. But, unsurprisingly, the show is stolen by Michael Keaton as the titular spirit.
Worthy of all the praise it gets, and more.
