Everything in this movie was just an excuse to show off the effects. And while those were amazingly creative and a blast to watch, the movie felt more like a ride than a film, and there would be nothing wrong with that if the story between the effects was any good.
I really hated the Michael's Keaton character, but this still is one of the most 80's things out there. Reminded me of the Japanese "House" a lot.
