"Bee Movie" is yet ANOTHER one of DreamWorks' attempt to get on par with other animation companies such as Fox, Disney, and Pixar. This is not to say this is a terrible movie, it truly isn't.

For little kids it would play out the best, but older audiences I fear would find it a huge bore. But aside from the fact that one can't just simply point fingers and say "it's a kid's movie, they can get away with that," there are some problems with the film in detail.

The first, the fact that it's about a bee. Yes, a bee. That's why the call it "Bee Movie." Now, whether that is just to satirize the true meaning of a "B" movie, or if it is to make us sympathize with the audience over it's main character, both fail.

Secondly, too many movies about colonies and "finding yourself" have been made and up to this point I have just grown tired of them. Not even all the seemingly would-be clever pop-culture references couldnâ(TM)t save this movie.

There's even a scene where Ray Liotta(in CGI form any everything) makes an appearance. That was what drew the line for me. I couldn't tell from there what this movie was going for, it was just ridiculous.

And once again, I must address the animation. This was only one year after "Over the Hedge," and I still don't see any improvement. There's a particular setting, the Bee's bee hive which looked particularly cartoonish and over-the top.

It didn't look like a place where bees lived. It looked like a coloring book that a toddler scribbled the hell out of, and have to his Producer dad who put it in this bad movie. Voicing seemed a little inappropriate too, as ONCE AGAIN DreamWorks tries to save their film with an all-star cast.

Particular voices like Patrick Warburton had me tearing my hair out in annoyance, the same foes for Chris Rock. All I can say is, with a film called "Bee Movie" what else can you expect? It lived up to it's title.
