Review of Becket (1964) by Edith N — 14 Apr 2008
This is an excellent film. I've been reading good reviews for years (and the stories of the legendary drinking sessions during the filming), but it was never on TV. Finally it made it to DVD last year, and now the BBC is showing it.
The BIG surprise was to find that it was Richard Burton that played Becket and Peter O'Toole Henry II, a role O'Toole reprised a few years later in "The Lion in Winter". I think I had Burton's Henry VIII from "Anne of a Thousand Days" stuck in my head!
