Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Elizabeth G — 02 Apr 2017
I dont understand how anyone can write a review and not mention "Evermore" this was the best, and most passionate part of the entire film. The movie lacked a lot of chemistry between belle and the beast, Im not sure if this was done on purpose to town down the sexual tension and avoid something comfortable, but the scene when beast is watching Belle leave to rescue her father and begins "Evermore" you actually sense that Beast not only is truly in love with Belle, but now understand unconditional love, knowing that even when she isnt there she will always be with him, and love means sometimes sacrificing the one thing you've always wanted, in this case his humanity.
This addition to the beauty and the beast score solidifies the entire theme of the movie and actually gives us a Disney movie about love that is way more realistic then boy meets girl, they fall in love, one saves the other, Beauty and the Beast brings actual growth, shows that sometimes you need to change and grow as a human in order to see who someone really is or be able to see your insecurities and work on them.
Evermore made this film for me. It is wasnt for that sequence you'd question how much Beast really cared for belle, but here with lines like "She will still Inspire me, be a apart of everything I do" displays to us how we carry love with us even when someone is not there and we dont know if they will ever come back and also the pain of love how it never goes away but never makes us feel more alive.
