Review of Beautiful Boy (2011) by Nora S — 21 Oct 2011
To distill to a common denominator, this movie is simply about remorse around the death of a loved one. Having lost a parent, I recognize several psychological states presented by the parents of a mass murderer.
The case is stated that the parents are ultimately responsible for the actions of the child. The movie fairly rebuts this and is compelling. Nevertheless, I found it to be an unpleasant story to participate in.
Anyone that has lost a loved one doesn't need to relive the "why" of their remorse, and those that have not will likely not recognize the cues. The movie ends with a family just as dysfunctional as when it began.
It's a successful passage, but many will discover that it exhausting.
