Review of Beatriz at Dinner (2017) by Steve L — 24 Jun 2017
I liked the film. The topics and confrontation may appear overt in this day and age of hate rhetoric and divisive politics but it is still needed. Some people may think Hayek's reaction to animal killing over the top for example, only those who have been in the African Bush and know the ground reality would know- such a reaction is very real for I have behaved exactly to a weirdly similar reaction.
Also there's a section in the movie where Beatriz talks about 'healing'.... THAT is the message, that is the universal truth, however cliche, however redundant it may sound to our jaded ears.
