Review of Beatriz at Dinner (2017) by Donatela B — 13 Jul 2017
The acting in this movie is terrific. Lithgow plays an immoral real estate tycoon and we hope that Beatriz (Hayak) will heal him. The other characters, like Lithgow, are primarily the conspicuous consumer class stereotypes, greedy, selfish, oblivious .
Lithgow even hunts big game, like Donald Jr. The ending is completely unsatisfying and unrealistic. I'm not glad to have spent the time watching it despite the fine acting, every actor giving a nuanced performance that made his or her character multi-dimensional.
