Review of Be Kind Rewind (2008) by Michael G — 04 Nov 2010
This corny but highly creative comedy, directed by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry has heart and an emotional connection to the 2 leads but lacks glue to bind it all together. Despite my strong dislike of Jack Black I found him quite easy to tolerate and even like in Be Kind Rewind. Mo Def's performance on the other hand is quite bland.
The "sweded" versions of the films are very funny, especially Rush Hour 2.
Be Kind Rewind manages to be a heartfelt, feel good comedy whilst still producing several laugh out loud moments but it could be improved.
