Review of Battleship Potemkin (1925) by Spencer S — 18 Sep 2013

Its lines are a bit too simplistic and the film has the same problems almost every war film has - lack of emotional involvement and weaker character development, but Battleship Potemkin is a powerful experience and a groundbreaking film with incredibly good camera work and effects for the time, very good soundtrack and acting, with war scenes filled with uncommon realism and daring brutality and with some grand scenes, particularly The Odessa Steps scene which is iconic for a good reason - it is very cinematic, intense and captivating, holding your attention completely in awe.
