Review of Battlefield Earth (2000) by Wai M — 03 Mar 2011
I have never understood how so many people could like the film "The Fast and The Furious", I thought it was simply pathetic. After watching Battlefield Earth, I may now have an answer.
I believe many people feel for The Fast and The Furious the same way I feel for Battlefield Earth, it's so ridiculous, so stupid, so plainly childish and so lacking in quality, I only have endearment for the picture. Unfortunately many people feel for Battlefield Earth as I feel for The Fast and The Furious, it's so ridiculous, so stupid, so plainly childish and so lacking in quality, I only have hatred for the picture. Posting the score i'm going to post may seriously discredit any (if any) respect I have earned here on RT, but damnit, I actually enjoyed this film.
Perhaps the fact that I had my mind securely turned off before I even started viewing this picture. Or maybe that I heard the film was awful thus lowering my expectations to a minimal. Or perhaps I realize the film is bad, thus it makes for an awesome examination of filmmaking at it's campiest (can you really expect a good film from such a stupid source?). Whatever the reason, I just can't get pass the fact I have seen many films that I have enjoyed much less.
Battlefield Earth is so bad, it's actually rather entertaining.
