Review of Battlefield Earth (2000) by Hazzagalla — 27 Mar 2017
Listing all the things wrong in Battlefield Earth feels like writing a 5000 word essay. The camerawork is shockingly awful (always slanted), the visual effects are very poor, the editing feels like someone was testing out the 'wipe transition' on Windows Movie Maker, the script and dialogue is so ridiculous and filled with stupid plot holes, the characters are forgettable and bland, the sets look like theme park ride sets or something just thrown together with no effort and finally, the acting, is atrocious.
The only things worthy of some praise in this 'film' are the alien prosthetics and make-up, which are okay, and the unintentionally hilarious moments scattered throughout the movie. Nothing is memorable at all apart from these unintentionally hilarious comedic moments and the prosthetics.
It is worth seeing however, for these unintentionally hilarious moments, so sit down with a few mates, a few beers from your friendly bartender and let the film demonstrate how NOT to make a movie.
