Review of Battle Royale (2000) by Jake S — 01 Jul 2012
This is a muddled, ultra-violent precursor to The Hunger Games (the comparisons are inevitable). There isn't enough story to make you feel much for most of the children involved, so many of the kids look and sound the same that you often don't know who is who, and the acting is either nonexistent or so over the top as to be laughable.
There are some decent action and fight scenes in it, and the direction and cinematography is sometimes top notch.
If you're into brutal combat horror, you may like this.
