Incredibly enjoyable. The gore is offset by the lack of special effects so it can be watched by the more squeamish audience. Battle Royale is filled with unique characters, flashback fueled mini-stories, and a TV series-like saga covering the progression of the plot.
Most of the character struggles come from teenage love interests, but Fukasaku wastes no time in getting the action underway and the movie keeps the action propelling with unforgiving battles to the death.
