Review of Battle Royale (2000) by Tehe T — 18 May 2014
Wow, now I understand why people are bad at Susan for basically ripping off this movie. It's pretty much exactly like hunger games, but without the whole post-apocalyptic society. Though I actually still like hunger games more, it really posted me off that she would steal the premise.
Though she made it more acceptable to American audiences. To me this movie wouldn't have ever been released in Hollywood. Extremely blood on minors is something that I've never seen before. I think American audiences wouldn't have taken it as well as in Japan.
This movie however was great neither less. It was a messages filled movie with a lot of emotion. The action was great and the only thing that would make it better was more realism. Some of it felt too much like a comic book at times.
Also, some of it just way too far left field. Though I didn't mind it that much. Overall I loved it. It felt like hunger games on steroids. 8.4/10.
