Review of Battle Royale (2000) by Tristan M — 11 Dec 2014
This film spawned one of the most famous books and movie trilogy's of the decade: The Hunger Games. For whatever reason this film is criticized for its topic, yet Hunger Gaames is praised. I like this movie far more however.
The fact that its in another language dosen't bother me, but I still think that the diologe and acting on the parts of the children has room for improvement. It gets right to the point, placing them on the island with each other to kill pretty quickly, and they get a nasty introduction.
Overall it's pretty fast paced, with there always being threats all around them and people who will happily kill them. The action is ok, featuring infinite ammo, but the amount of bullets people take as well as the blood and gore is very fake, and could have been far improved.
The characters are good, different and have ther purposes, and we have those who we hate, and want to survive. Yet in the end there can be only one survivor. The end is interesting, I actually didn't see it coming, and it left a bit of confusion.
Overall good movie, could use some improvement, and deserves more that what it recieves.
