Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Lenard W — 27 Jul 2016
Based upon an acclaimed graphic novel from Alan Moore, Batman: The Killing Joke contains phenomenal animation, a great story or two, and the voices of original voices Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, I am not sure how many issues the novel had, but I assume based upon the movie there were about 4. 2 issues devoted to the last case of the Batgirl. As Batman becomes more protective of his protege, Barbara becomes more daring in her pursuit of a "master criminal." The other 2 issues were devoted to Batman arch-nemesis The Joker. Once again he has escaped from Arkham Asylum with a plan to turn heroes into madmen. In addition, the origin of The Joker is finally revealed (I am confident it inspired the origin in the 1989 film). How much of a fiend is the Joker? I can only reveal he fiendishly shots someone to paralyze them permanently and then sexual assaults her. After the end of the film, it is revealed that she is now a new person famous to any fan of DC Comics.
Also contained in this film is a featurette on the best actor to portray The Joker, Mark Hamill. Some people may believe it is Heath Ledger, but I posit that some of his performance was based upon the work of Mark Hamill from the animated series.
