Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Nic B — 12 Aug 2016
Loyal adaptation of the graphic novel, bookended by a new back story which adds a depth to Barbara Gordon's character that now seems lacking from the source material. Only gripe: the animation overly-simplified Brian Bolland's excellent artwork.
A little more cross-hatched ink-detail would have been welcome but the animation team did a great job compensating for this lack of Bolland's artistic nuance; the smooth, flowing animation somewhat makes up for this shortcoming and the awesome voice acting keeps it gritty, as it should be.
