Review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 (2012) by Matthew C — 27 Feb 2013
Utterly fails to capture the spirit of Frank Miller's original work. It softens the darker side of things (considering the title that's simply ridiculous) eliminating any signs of vice, smoking, drug use, suicide, sex.
It uses some quotes verbatim, yet disregards the original monologues that Batman/Bruce Wayne had that made him what he is. What makes things more infuriating is that The Dark Knight Returns is -not- for young audiences.
Yet they've kiddified it so thoroughly it's no worse than a PG film that pushes closer to PG-13 but can sneak through.
