For anyone that has read the comic of the Dark Knight Returns will find that this is virtually a word for word, scene for scene adaptation of that comic which for fans is great.
What it does mean that the feeling of the film as with the comic has a feeling of being a little dated, however the story is still an excellent one and well worth seeing for any Batman fan.
