Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Ifiok O — 21 Jul 2012
In this attempt at making a more "light-hearted, family friendly" Batman movie, Schumacher fails to really do Batman, and his other supporting characters, true justice. Kilmer plays Batman too wooden, Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey seem to be trading off Cesar Romero-inspired Joker impressions in their over the top performances, Kidman seems to be like a Vickie Vale clone with little motivation other than seducing Batman, and O'Donnell's turn as Robin is solid, but not enough to pull the film together.
"Batman Forever" can only be regarded as a huge, colorful cartoonish mess that is high on spectacle, but void of substance.
