Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Cody L — 18 Feb 2013

After the parental backlash against Batman Returns, Burton left the series and was replaced by Joel Schumacher, who delivered the film studio executives always wanted, a safe film that was guaranteed to be a hit with parents.

Its not a terrible movie, but its certainly not great. Val Kilmer is a mediocre replacement for Michael Keaton and his relationship with Chase Meridian isn't memorable. Jim Carey surprisingly is a decent Riddler, but Two-Face feels like a lame retread of Jack Nicholson's Joker.

Their scheme of stealing people's minds is outlandish, while the first two films of the series still feature outlandish plots, they were still possible, this was the first that was truly outlandish.

Chris O'Donnel isn't anything special as Robin and more just adds to the camp of the movie. Its not a bad movie, but it doesn;t hold up to Burton's and is nowhere near the equal of Chris Nolan's trilogy.
