Review of Basic Instinct (1992) by Patrick B — 03 Jun 2010
The script is clunky, and the mystery whodunit never really grips you to your seat, but the sex scenes are hot... REALLY HOT. And Sharon Stone is so seductive as the novelist suspected of the murders that she alone will glue you to the screen.
.. at least for the first hour. Then the movie sort of doddles along for far too long, and not even Sharon Stone's perfectly rounded boobs can save the film from sinking a bit. Luckily, the film ends with a bang, and Verhoeven keeps the mystery going right up to the ending credits.
Overall, it's a decent thriller, but I had the right idea when I was younger when I just fast-forwarded to the good parts.
