Review of Basic Instinct (1992) by Anthony L — 04 Jul 2010
Going into Basic Instinct, you have no expectations. Hype about the film for in the last 18 years has given correct expectations. A sexplotation thriller which depends on skin to intrigue. However, I couldn't help but be sucked in by Ms.
Stone's performance psychologically. Predictability and type-casting(the film was torn apart by the homosexual community for having all of the women in the film be violent and only choosing male victims, and using sexual preference as exploitation) make the film fail considerably.
In the end, it entertains, if only for pure titilation, it does succeed at that. If only the plot was....structured.
