Review of Basic Instinct (1992) by Dimitri P — 04 Apr 2012
"Basic Instinct" has quite a reputation (mainly for one particular scene involving Sharon Stone) but is a rather middling suspense drama filled with good performances from it's cast. The film has a lot of plot elements in the works at the same time and while having a slight Hitchcockian feel are hard to accept many times.
The suspense is well kept throughout the film and everyone seems to have secrets and be tied in one way or another to the case and makes for a constant guessing game for the audience. If you can handle the mature and graphic visuals in the film then give it a watch if you haven't already and see if it lives up to it's reputation.
