Paul Verhoeven's camp, trashy erotic thriller was a huge success, and its most famous moments have been much imitated. It is occassionally thrilling, not always credible, and ultimately unsuccessful, but if you put your mind in neutral, Basic Instinct is quite enjoyable, if silly.
