Review of Basic Instinct (1992) by Giano P — 09 Jan 2010
Somehow, this film's a complete noir package because of the music, the fascinating and titillating visuals and the mystery that's quite easy to solve. The reason why this film's still polarizing is because of its actors.
Yes, we have a totally big bang performance from Sharon Stone whose dedication and sexy words and body language immortalized Catherine Tramell in the fantasies of drooling men all over the world... but those supporting characters were awful! An old Michael Douglas doing hardcore... Jeanne Tripplehorn looking stupid (like her celebrity surname)...
Basic Instinct is like looking at a beautiful star and then dim, broken meteors start revolving around it. But with that aside, Basic Instinct succeeds at being the erotic thriller of the century.
