Review of Basic Instinct (1992) by David S — 10 Feb 2011
An adult film, which leaves the viewer uncompromised, involved and emotionally drained by the sheer intensity of the experience. Thus far, a great movie.... BUT a wooden script and conventional police-drama stereotype characters and scenes, the absence of real suspense, condemn the movie to B-status skinflick.
But it IS well done and has a place in history for launching Sharon Stone. It should have reset the bar on permissible sexuality. Just falls short in key areas.
