A bizarre, dark, surreal comedy about writer's block that has a noir-ish vibe to it. A studio writer with writer's block is forced to watch as the walls of reality slowly come crumbling down around him.
With terrific performances from John Goodman and John Turturro, Barton Fink is another great outing from the Coen Brothers, although it is one of their most confusing and hard to make sense of films..
...I'd bargain that that is a big part of it's appeal though....a lucid nightmare that builds to insane heights. My personal theory is that the whole film takes place inside Barton's mind, but of course it's all up to interpretation.
