I don't quite know why I don't know of any other films starring Ryan O'Neal, he's absolutely brilliant in Barry Lyndon. I was surprised I liked this film, to be honest, because I'm not much of a period drama sort of man.
But, to my surprise, this long, epic, tragedy of a film impressed me and captivated me. It's one I plan to force the girlfriend to watch (she's in love with Jane Austen, the Brontes, and the like), and one I'm sure she'd enjoy as much as I do.
