Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Zach M — 27 Aug 2012
Barry Lyndon is one of the most underrated movies of all time.
Now before I continue, the art cover of this movie is very lovely, I just love how it looks, its a work of art.
A very beautifully shot movie in where you can tell Kubrick did his best, the movie is based around an Irishman from a penniless boy, to a soldier, a spy and finally Barry Lyndon. And I love how slow the movie takes to develop this character and how we grow to care about him and his adventures he has through this masterpiece.
The movie's directing is the best I've ever seen and the music is just lovely, and the Victorian setting of the film fits Kubrick wonderfully since A Clockwork Orange had a very Victorian setting to it as well, and that's why I love this movie. The main villain, the stepson, I absolutely hate in which he comes in the movie a little to the end of it.
And that's the many amazing things about this film, the characters, although the only one I just didn't care much for was Lady Lyndon since she hardly had lines and seemed kind of dead in personality, but everyone else was just perfect.
If you haven't seen this beautiful work of art I highly recommend you do, every shot of this movie is gorgeous, the acting and one of my favorite characters of Cinema.
