Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Khriss B — 07 May 2018
What is Kubrick's greatest film?
WRONG! It's Barry Lyndon.
I've watched it 50x in the two years I've owned it: first on inferior dvd, then on bluray (remastered), and 2x on big screen.
It's a straight forward, ambient glimpse of the 18th Cent., unburdened by hackneyed concerns for drama & character,.
:moreso it prioritizes visuals, movement, music, -because CINEMA- to display an existentialist development of one man's absurd pursuits for a quarter century of his life.
